Dr Rene A. Cruz
Veterinarian, DVM
Dr. Rene Cruz has been practicing on Ramrod Key since 1985. Dr. Cruz purchased the animal hospital from Dr. Alan Bush after he retired in 1989. It was the allure of the local waters and warm weather that brought Dr. Rene Cruz and his wife, Sheila, to the Florida Keys. They enjoy the company of their personal pets, an English Setter, Chiquiri; a Greyhound, Brisket; and two cats, Carlos and Orion.

Dr. Cruz and Little T enjoy the ocean.

Originally from New York City, Kathleen began her career at Cruz Animal Hospital in 1996 after working with dolphins. She has a Portuguese Water Dog, Luz; a Congo African Grey Parrot, and two cats.

Receptionist
Originally from Maryland, Kathie is definitely the cat person with three of her own at home, including a Katrina rescue cat.

Originally from Illinois, Norene has one Terrier mix and two cats.

Originally from Washington State, she moved to the Keys in 1999, and she has three dogs, two cats and a leopard gecko.

Orion
Clinic Cat
Orion, a longhair orange tabby, was a rescue kitten and has retired early as our blood donor. He now entertains visiting cats and owners alike.
